Press Release of Senator Lugar Lugar Statement on Senator Robert C. Byrd Monday, June 28, 2010 U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar released the following reflection regarding U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd, who died today at the age of 92:   Char and I extend our prayers to the Byrd family.   In the spring of 2006, Sen. Byrd sent me a note of appreciation for visiting with his family when his beloved wife Erma died. He said in the note that: “Soon it will be Easter, when we celebrate Christ’s resurrection and the promise of eternal life. I take immeasurable comfort in that, and in the knowledge that one day, we shall be reunited in the Father’s house.” Their marriage and family were always an especial inspiration that extended beyond his legendary service to the Senate and to our country. # # #
