Press Release of Senator Lugar Lugar Community Center Holds Medicine Cabinet Drive for The Franciscan Center of Fort Wayne Friday, July 16, 2010 The U.S. Senator Richard G. Lugar Northeast Indiana Community Service Center is sponsoring a supply drive for the Franciscan Center “Medicine Cabinet.”  The Franciscan Center is a local community outreach organization that supplies Fort Wayne residents in need with food and other everyday necessities.  The Franciscan Center’s Medicine Cabinet is a unique outreach program that offers supplies to the public that cannot be purchased with food stamps such as personal hygiene products, household cleaners, and over-the-counter medications.  The Lugar Community Center is working to restock their supplies.  The Franciscan Center is in need of donations of unopened containers of laundry detergent, bar soap, hand soap, dish soap, shampoo, and over the counter meds for children and adults, especially ibuprofen and aspirin.  “I am excited to partner with the Franciscan Center for this important collection drive that will provide families in need with helpful personal items,” said Senator Lugar. “I hope Hoosiers will continue their generous support of these community initiatives, particularly during difficult economic times.” Donations will be accepted until August 1st at Lugar’s Community Center, in Covington Plaza at 6384A W.
