Spolight Programs from
Across Our State
Senator
Lugar has requested that principals and superintendents from across
the state help him in spotlighting an academic program, an outstanding
teacher, an outstanding student, a building or any and all of
the above. If you would like to nominate someone or a program,
please contact Senator Lugar.
For the moment, please check out the following
spotlighted programs from cross our state:
- The nationally broadcasted Electronic Field Trip, “The Science of Speed” hosted by a variety of students from Indianapolis and New Palestine, Indiana and Laurens, South Carolina was held on April 17th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Students got to experience first hand what it feels like to actually drive a racecar by trying out a simulator. Many students and most of the teachers came in last place on the simulator, but one hot dog driver from District 7's Raymond Park Middle School, Ricky Johnson, accomplished the feat of 3rd place against the computer.
- Each fall the DPW invites local students at District 7's Raymond
Park Middle School to participate in an annual snowplow
painting competition called Snowplowpalooza
. This
year’s given theme is “We Keep Indianapolis Running.”
- Learn how the Library Media Center at District 7's Raymond
Park Middle School is embarking on a new adventure
to draw more visitors from both the halls and classrooms of
Raymond Park and outside its doors into the community through
A Wave in

- The 2006
Raymond Park Ranger Robotics Team
of District 7's Raymond Park Middle School had
a productive and fun season. The team won the Team Spirit Award
this year at the Regional Competition at Purdue University in
West Lafayette, Indiana.
- Students at Raymond Park Middle School of
District 7 are conducting a grade-level contest to see who can
raise the most money through the Giving
Tree
to give to needy families located right at Raymond Park Middle
School.
- The decks were divided and the brackets ready at Raymond
Park Middle School of District 7. Up for grabs was
the coveted “LIFE
Program War Champ”
trophy.
- AfterSchool Coalition of Indianapolis says
"Give Kids A
Place To Go, And THEY’LL GO PLACES."

- Raymond Park Middle School students of District
7 found a unique way to spend their lunchtimes: crocheting
scarves for the homeless.

- Raymond Park Middle School of District 7
found new
ways of integrating art into other areas
when the art program was eliminated due to budget cuts.

- Raymond Park Middle School from District
7 offers a way to harness sports enthusiasm for use in the classroom
with Super Bowl...Super Math!

- Raymond Park Middle School from District
7 offers a new way for Christmas
Tree Decorating…Math Style!

- Hickory Elementary School from District 8
has reorganized the school day to include "Differentiated
Clusters
"
to help it Leave No Child Behind.
- Southport High School from District 7 submitted
a promotional video
about their school.
