  • 109 Hoosiers toured the U.S. Capitol Building with members of Senator Lugar’s staff since the beginning of 2007.

  • Consulted President Bush and Secretary of State Rice about U.S. involvement in Iraq.

  • Appeared on CNN Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer and ABC This Week with George Stephanopoulos to discuss Iraq.

  • Partnered with Community Harvest Food Bank, Headwaters Park, the Downtown Improvement District, and WAJI Majic 95.1 to host a food drive in Fort Wayne. All food donations went to the Community Harvest Bank.

  • Sworn in for a sixth term in the U.S. Senate. Senator Lugar ranks eighth in Senate seniority and third in the Republican Party. Check out the Photo Gallery for pictures.

  • Cosponsored a resolution to recognize the 98th Anniversary of the NAACP.

  • Requested that a U.S. flag be flown over the United States Capitol in recognition of the first day of ethanol production by Iroquois Bio-Energy Company in Rensselaer.

  • Released a statement in reaction to Russia’s decision to halt crude oil shipments to Belarus that reminded America and its allies of the national security risks associated with energy dependence.

  • Introduced legislation to establish a United States–Poland Parliamentary Youth Exchange Program.

Graphic: Did you know?  Nancy Ho, Ph.D, a molecular biologist at Purdue University's Laboratory of Renewable Resources Engineering and recent Lugar Energy Patriot was invited to attend the State of the Union address as a guest of First Lady Laura Bush. Dr. Ho runs a genetics research group for biotechnology and engineering, where she has spent her career developing the yeasts required to process cellulosic ethanol.
