Number & Notables

  • 561 Hoosiers toured the U.S. Capitol Building with members of Senator Lugar’s staff in March 2007.

  • Met with Hoosier Tuskegee Airmen who were in Washington, D.C. for a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda. Visit the Photo Gallery for pictures.

  • Attended an announcement by IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz naming the newly created Richard G. Lugar Renewable Energy Center at IUPUI. Visit the Photo Gallery for pictures.

  • Welcomed introduction of H.R.1391, “Vaccines for the Future Act 2007,” by Rep. Pete Visclosky. The legislation is the companion to Senator Lugar’s S. 569 and would develop a comprehensive strategy to speed development, testing and distribution of life-saving vaccines through innovative financial incentives and would authorize funding for a pneumonia vaccine pilot program. 

  • Launched a joint initiative with Minister Erik Solheim of Norway to promote responsible and sustainable development of energy resources in developing countries. Visit the Photo Gallery for pictures.

  • Met with David Miner, an Indianapolis resident and chairman of the board of Bread for the World.  Visit the Photo Gallery for pictures.

  • Introduced a resolution to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – U.S. Dialogue and affirm appreciation for the relationship.
