• Collected 38,768 pounds of food and $35,882.04, a total equivalent of 220,582 meals, for Gleaners Food Bank of Indianapolis at events throughout the holiday season.

• Cast his 11,678th vote on December 17 moving into 15th place on the all-time voting list in the Senate and surpassing former Senator John Stennis of Mississippi.

• Attended the funeral of Rep. Julia Carson in Indianapolis on Saturday, December 22 and was among the speakers. 

• 99 Hoosiers toured the U.S. Capitol Building with members of Senator Lugar’s staff in December 2007.

• Collected donations for Community Harvest Food Bank in the Lugar Community Service Center in Fort Wayne.

• Announced $18,926,543 in grants for Hoosier communities from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

• Announced passage of Senate Resolution 279, sponsored by Senator Lugar, which marks the 125th anniversary of the Treaty of Peace, Amity, Commerce and Navigation between Korea and the United States.

Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction Program November 2007 Update:

• 6 strategic nuclear warheads deactivated;
• 4 Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) destroyed;
• 2 ICBM silos eliminated;
• 3 Submarine launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) eliminated; and
• 4 train shipments of nuclear weapons were sent to safe and secure storage.
